Madison Middle School is building upon twelve years of tradition when it hosts this year’s grade level team-building day during the period of October 2nd through October 4th. From 2006 through 2015, this exciting day was known as May Madness or June Jubilee depending on the month it was held. However, with state testing it became difficult to accommodate this event during the spring. In the fall of 2016 and 2017, Madison Middle School scheduled a “Fall Frenzy” team-building day during the month of October. This is a really special event for Madison Middle School, usually resulting in new friendships and long-lasting memories for students and teachers alike.
Many of our teacher-leaders in the middle school advocated for a change in the Fall Frenzy platform. Specifically, alternating the year that we host a traditional Fall Frenzy at Madison and replace the other year with something fresh, new, and exciting. Faculty recommended the “something new” to be the Tree Runners West Bloomfield Adventure Park with tree running and zip lining. The outing provides opportunities for collaboration, trust building, support for one another, and the development of positive communication skills – which is the original vision for May Madness (now Fall Frenzy).
Between donations from Madison Middle School Student Council and the Madison School District community, the price per student to attend the field trip to Tree Runners West Bloomfield Adventure Park is down to $10. A regular ticket to Tree Runner West Bloomfield Adventure Park is $48. Promotional tickets for schools are usually $26.
Each ticket provides a 3-hour climb, plus a 30-minute harnessing session. School groups are usually limited to a 2 – 2 1/2 hour climb due to transportation schedules. This is still plenty of time to enjoy the treetops. Adventure Park offers 10 courses, 5 difficulty levels, 22 zip lines and over 160 obstacles – in the treetops. The park is built for self-discovery. Every guest climbs at his or her own pace while taking risks and thinking outside the box. The park encourages group cohesion, camaraderie, teamwork and leadership skills.
We will be leaving school at 8:00 a.m. and returning around 2:30 p.m. Students should pack their own lunch for the day or order a sack lunch from the cafeteria. The $10 cost per student may be paid on-line at myschoolbucks.com.
